Safinah Group is happy to welcome John Benitez to our Marine Team, who joined the company as a Technical Services Assistant Manager.
John started his career as a field engineer, doing coating inspection work, then worked as Regional Technical Services Manager for Latin America and Product Manager for Latin America for one of the world’s largest marine and protective coatings companies. He has a specialist knowledge in Project Management in both Oil and Marine Industries.
Prior to joining Safinah Group, John worked as an independent consultant for the Marine and Oil Industries providing technical coating advice and field support for companies worldwide.

Chemical Food Engineer, Specialist in Project Management, Master’s degree in Business Administration MBA, FROSIO Certified Inspector Level 3.
John has a wide international experience in the sector of Marine and Industrial Coatings with 17 years of experience within the Industrial and Marine Industries mainly in the following activities:
- Product Management
- Internal and external Customer Training Management
- Technical Services Management
- Project Management
He has worked on the Direction, Execution, Specification and Inspection of major maintenance works of assets for both Oil Companies in the Protective Coatings sector and New Building and Maintenance Projects in the Marine Sector.
Role at Safinah Group
Ensure the Technical Services activities are run and coordinated adequately on both administrative and field levels, supporting the directions of the Technical Services General Manager.
What challenges do you expect your role to bring?
“The main challenge I expect is to fully accomplish the directives given by Safinah Group’s Vision and Mission from the Technical Services activities, i.e. to contribute positively and to help maintain our thought leadership by providing the best Technical Services to our customers.”
What parts of your new role do you look forward to?
“One of the aspects that I feel more excited about is that I will be able to develop more professionally by interacting with the pool of great and expert professionals in our Team.”
Favourite hobbies and interests?
“I do love to do many things, I like to feel I am growing both personally and professionally, to do so, I read as much as I can, I also like to exercise, I cycle on a daily basis, I love music and although I am not a musician, I play the guitar or listen to music while I read or work. Lastly, I very much enjoy travelling.”
