With ISO 45001, Safinah strengthens our commitment to deliver world-class technical expertise with safety at the heart of every project.

At Safinah, the safety and well-being of our people, partners, and clients is central to everything we do. That’s why we’re proud to have maintained the ISO 45001:2018 certification – the internationally recognised standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS).

This certification is a reflection of our proactive, people-first approach to safety, and a significant step forward in our mission to foster a culture of continuous improvement, risk awareness, and shared responsibility across all aspects of our business.

We remain true to our commitment to creating a safe and healthy working environment for our employees, clients, and partners both onshore and offshore. This means ensuring that our systems are robust, our risk management is proactive, and our culture of safety is embedded in everything we do.

What ISO 45001 means for Safinah and our clients

Operating in high-risk environments – offshore, onshore, and across global industrial sectors requires a strong safety framework that can adapt, respond, and lead. ISO 45001 provides the structure we need to:

  • Identify and manage occupational health and safety risks proactively
  • Minimise the potential for incidents and work-related injuries
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance
  • Engage and empower employees to take ownership of safety
  • Continually monitor, evaluate, and improve safety performance

For our clients, this means even greater confidence in Safinah’s ability to deliver technical excellence without compromise. Whether overseeing coatings projects, conducting inspections, or supporting asset integrity strategies, our ISO 45001 certification ensures safety is built into every process, decision, and interaction.

Raising the bar for health and safety

ISO 45001 is the world’s first global standard for occupational health and safety, providing a robust framework for managing risks, reducing workplace incidents, and enhancing employee well-being. The certification represents a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk mitigation, aligning with Safinah’s values of integrity, responsibility, and continuous improvement

“Achieving ISO 45001 is a testament to the strong safety culture we’ve built over the years, it reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting our people and ensuring our operations meet the highest international standards.”

A rigorous path to accreditation

To attain ISO 45001 accreditation, Safinah underwent a comprehensive audit process conducted by LRQA, an independent certification body. The assessment included a thorough review of Safinah’s safety management policies, risk assessment protocols, emergency preparedness, employee engagement practices, and overall health and safety performance.

The successful outcome is the result of cross-departmental collaboration and a shared commitment to health and safety at every level of the organisation.

Benefits beyond compliance

While ISO 45001 enhances legal and regulatory compliance, its broader value lies in its ability to foster a culture of continual improvement and proactive risk management. For Safinah, the certification not only strengthens internal processes but also reinforces trust with clients who depend on the company’s expertise in high-risk, technical environments.

“This achievement is not just about meeting a standard - it’s about setting one. Our clients rely on us for quality, reliability, and technical excellence. With ISO 45001, they can be even more confident that Safinah operates with the highest regard for health and safety.”

Safinah Coating Supervisor, George Horta receives his first international safety certificate.

A team-driven milestone

Our path to ISO 45001 accreditation was not just about systems and policies – it was about people. The dedication of our team was critical in achieving this milestone.

Two standout examples include Safinah Techical Services and Coating Supervisors, George Horta and Harold Rivas, who not only participated in Safinah’s safety initiatives but went a step further by earning personal health and safety certifications.

Their leadership in the field, especially in challenging offshore environments, helped bring safety culture to life where it matters most.

George captured the spirit of this journey in his own words:

My first international safety recognition! SAFETY FIRST! Working in the offshore industry brings many challenges – exhausting working days, a heavy routine, homesickness – but we can’t lose focus on safety for a minute, as it can be fatal.
Helping to improve safety for everyone on board gives me great satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.

Safinah Field Consultant, Harold Rivas was also a recipient of international safety certificate.

Their stories are just two examples of how Safinah’s ISO 45001 certification was earned through real-world application, personal accountability, and a shared belief that safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Looking ahead

Safinah’s ISO 45001 accreditation complements its existing certifications and supports its long-term strategy for sustainable growth and operational excellence. With this milestone, Safinah continues to lead by example in an industry where safety and professionalism are paramount.

Our ISO 45001 accreditation is a crucial and valuable tool not only for our organisation but also for our customers. It improves the safety in the workplace and the well-being of the workers involved in our activities. Our proactive approach to identifying and mitigating hazards and risks before they result in incidents or injuries generate a continuous improvement and a positive safety culture that is lived now and encouraged every time now and in the future.

What’s next? Continuous improvement.

Achieving ISO 45001 is not the end but just the foundation for our next chapter. As we grow and evolve, we remain committed to:

  • Ongoing safety training and development
  • Regular internal audits and performance reviews
  • A culture where anyone can speak up, suggest improvements, and lead change
  • Sharing best practices across global teams and projects
  • Supporting client operations with the highest safety standards

Because at Safinah, technical excellence means nothing without safety.
