Supporting Small Component Manufacturer
Safinah worked with a small component manufacturer to ensure their products coatings were properly optimised for offshore use.
Performance of different fouling prevention solutions
The Safinah technical team attend more than 200 dry dockings per year on behalf of ship owner clients. The in-dock survey data collected is used by the special projects team to track the performance of various anti-fouling coating brands and specification trends within the industry.
Regulatory changes drive development of disruptive technologies
The challenge of fouling prevention has been placed under increased regulatory pressure resulting in a steady reduction in the approved biocide packages available to formulators. Safinah worked with Philips to assist them to bring to market the “RunWell” system that is now in advance stage of development with tests/trials being conducted on board selected vessels.
Assessment of coating process to reduce emissions and improve performance
A national association wanted a major shipyard coating process assessment with the aim of reducing emissions in operation and improving facility/asset performance. Safinah was instructed to undertake a coating activity environmental audit at a major shipyard to identify areas where environmental risk could be mitigated, waste and emissions reduced and provide short and medium-term plans to enable the shipyard to adjust its operating processes to minimise the overall impact to the environment and to reduce the H&S challenges that their employees and contractors faced.
